Regarding Jeanelle M Feriere’s work, YES! THIS! I worked this would a couple of years back. When I first read The Covert Captains I really struggled to be in the right headspace for its language though I pushed through what I normally would have given up on because I was sucked in to the story so much. But when I later listened to the audiobook, it was incredible. With the beautiful narration of Violet Dixon, her work comes alive with the most musical and poetic prose. It really is beautiful.
